Hello, and Welcome to The Low End Theory!

Welcome to The Low End Theory! I’m Nic Maher and this is my personal site.

Since October 2010, I’ve been lucky enough to be actively involved in the development of the now nation-wide Luna Magazine. Across this site, you’ll be able to view a collection of some of my work from the magazine, plus other pieces I’ve done for outside sources and within my university degree.

The name of the blog itself is derived from the classic Tribe Called Quest album, which represented a creative high point in 90s alternative music and is considered one of the most important records of the decade

Not only is this album of great sentimental value to me, it’s ability to successfully marry jazz, soul and hip hop – three vastly different genres – reflects the aim of this site to pair a wide range of content together from many different cultural areas, including music, film, politics and more.

I thoroughly hope that you enjoy reading through my articles and keeping up to date on a number of issues!

Furthermore, I highly encourage you to take a look at the Luna Magazine website, which I recently helped to redesign in a complete overhaul of the brand.

You can also access a digital copy of our previous print issue here, which we successfully launched in April to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, with the second issue set to drop in mid-July.

If you have any queries, you more than welcome to contact me at
