Metrostars Consolidate Top Spot

Adelaide Metrostars secured their place at the top of the table after a crucial 3-2 win over Raiders at TK Shutter Reserve. The win puts Metrostars one point ahead of rivals Blue Eagles at the top of the South Australian Super League.

Extra-time goals from Metro’s David Menechella and Raiders’ Nicky Orr provided a thrilling end to the contest after a slow start to the second half.

Despite the win, Metro coach Rick Cerrachio said he was disappointed with the performance of his side, who were without captain Lee Robertson and Adam van Dommele.

“We didn’t play well at all actually.

“The first 20 minutes were OK, we had a lot of chances but we missed them and struggled to put anything away.”

Metrostars will be looking to improve on their performance this Saturday for the top of the table clash against Blue Eagles.
