Megan Fox Joins Body-art Backlash

Megan Fox’s decision to remove the Marilyn Monroe tattoo on her forearm is but another incident in the growing backlash against body art.

Fox told an Italian magazine last week that she would be undergoing painful treatment to remove the portrait, which she cited as a negative influence on her work.

Fox’s decision reflects a growing cultural shift away from body art, with laser treatment on the rise  and the number of tattoo parlours in the US falling by 10%.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most common incidents of removal involve those on the hands, arms and faces as they can interfere with future job prospects.

Alternatively, the younger generation appear to be growing tired of tattoos and no longer feel the need to rebel – as exhibited by Kelly Osbourne, daughter of Ozzy Osbourne, who is set to remove tattoos she got as “a way of self-harming to upset my mum and dad.”
