Stanton Warriors – The Warriors

After 14 years of waiting, the Stanton Warriors have finally delivered their first truly original ‘artist’ album. Despite the mainstream appeal of tracks such as Get em up, the album maintains a pure breakbeat aesthetic and presents itself as a definitive collection of the Stanton Warriors’ previous works. The tracks themselves are incredibly polished and well constructed, with the oriental influenced Bushido and funk-laced New York highlights. However, the album fails to create a cohesive final product with Dakota feeling at odds with the rest of the tracks, in particular the frenetic Turn Me Up Some. The amalgamation of hip-hop vocals with the Stanton’s trademark breakbeat sound has resulted in a more commercially viable album worthy of any electro aficionado’s collection.
